5 artists from my childhood that need to make a comeback

0

Have you ever put your iPod on shuffle and heard a song that has taken you way back to a certain point in your life? Probably. Music has an amazing ability to do that. Whether it’s bringing back a good or a bad memory. I surprise myself when I hear an ‘old’ song by how much I remember the lyrics. I may not have heard that particular song for 15 years but still manage to remember every single word. Listening to these songs make me realise that these artists from my childhood need to make a comeback.

Now I know that things move on and there are so many new acts that have been smashing things lately. But when you have certain artists that you have listened to over the years you tend to have more memories associated with them. I do anyway. Looking back at all the ones on my iPod the other day it made me think how much I’d love to hear more music from these artists of my childhood.

Aaron Carter

For those who don’t already know, Aaron is the younger brother of Nick Carter (from the Backstreet Boys). I have followed Aaron’s career from the very beginning in 1997. I was lucky enough to see him live in London for his Wonderful World Tour in 2015. I had waited 18 years for that moment and hope I don’t have to wait that long to see him again. I felt like I grew up with Aaron, seeing as we are very similar in age, with him being just a year older than me. He has been in the recording studio for what seems like forever and is rumoured to be releasing his album LØVË in February next year, the 14th to be exact. A lovely Valentines day present someone can buy for me if they want to? Just saying. Let’s hope a tour will follow. In the meantime, check out his awesome track ‘Fools Gold’.

N*SYNC

Ok, I know it’s never going to happen but one can dream right? Although I was always a bigger fan of the BSBs I did love a bit of N*SYNC too. Remember that reunion they did on the VMAs in 2013? So maybe it is possible. Never say never I guess. I would love for them to do an anniversary comeback tour, even if they didn’t release any new music. Just so that I could see them live. I didn’t get the opportunity to see them in concert when they were around. I have been lucky enough to see Justin Timberlake live twice though and he was amazing. I could only ever imagine how awesome N*SYNC would be.

Westlife

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen them live, but seeing them on their farewell tour was quite emotional. I always remember being introduced to Westlife by one of the girls I had grown up with in school. She used to love Boyzone, I wasn’t a fan. But then Westlife came along and changed everything. We would listen to their albums back to back in her bedroom and watch them live in concert on VHS (definitely showing my age). I’d love for Brian to join them too for one big comeback as an Irish 5 piece.

Hanson

Mmmbop was obviously an ultimate tune of theirs and they released a fair few albums during their career. A few years ago they came to the student union in Cardiff and I didn’t go. I have no valid reason why either. I had asked a few of my friends to go with me, they said they would but we never did anything about it. I very much doubt I will get the opportunity again. BUT, I really do hope that they tour again and come back to the UK. Their latest album Play was released in May this year but it only had 5 tracks on it. Come on boys, we need to hear a full-length album AND I need to make sure I see you live.

Scissor Sisters

I always remember first hearing the Scissor Sisters on the radio when they released their first single Laura in 2003. I was convinced that it was Elton John before the radio presenter finally put me out of my misery and said it was the Scissor Sisters. I was doing my GCSEs in school (yas old I know) and listened to their album on repeat during the time I revised for my exams. I followed their career from then but again, didn’t go to see them live despite them coming to Cardiff. I was lucky enough to meet Ana Matronic when she was promoting their Ta Dah album in 2006. It’s been 4 whole years since they went on their hiatus and they’ve not announced a permanent split. I’d love to see them do an awesome comeback too.

Are there any artists that you’d love to hear from again or would like the opportunity to see them live if they toured again?
