Sheppard are an Australian indie-pop band who joined the pop-sphere back in 2009. They released their debut single in 2014, finding major success with ‘Geronimo’ (what a title), as the track hit #1 on the ARIA singles chart. Now with a new single debuting and a sophomore album to follow suit, we sat down with Sheppard to talk all things pop.

The brand new single ‘Keep Me Crazy’ has arrived. How would you describe the track in three words?

Spontaneous. Chivalrous. Imaginative.

You’ve just wrapped up a tour with the Beibs. How did you find the experience?

It’s a tour we will never forget. Playing stadiums has always been a dream of ours and we are so fortunate to have had that experience.

What’s the greatest thing about performing live?

The greatest part about performing live is experiencing the music you wrote with others. When you release a song to the world you don’t really get to see others enjoying your music so when you’re up there, it’s a real thrill to see the impact the song has had on people

The new album is coming soon. Can you give us a sneak peek of what we can expect?

‘Keep Me Crazy’ is a great insight of what’s to come. We have been experimenting with new electronic sounds whilst maintaining the classic Sheppard sound which incorporates live drums and lots of harmonies.

Your last album did incredibly well, how difficult was it to follow on from that?

We are just excited to show the world that we have more than ‘Geronimo’. We are confident that our song writing has improved and we have learnt a lot in the past 2-3 years.

What is the dream? Where do you want to be in 5 years time?

We hope to continue writing, recording and touring. In 5 years’ time, we will have 3 albums out and we hope to grow our fan base around the world.

Your fans are highly supportive, what’s the craziest thing a fan has done?

I think the craziest thing a fan has done is break into our green room. She just snuck in when security was looking the other way. It was both funny and terrifying as I think she was completely inebriated.

If you could duet with any artist in the world, who would it be?

We would absolutely love to collaborate with Coldplay. It’s never changed and we won’t stop dreaming until it comes true. CHRIS MARTIN FOREVER.

Lastly, what advice would you give for people wanting to form a band and make it in the industry?

Firstly, I would say, become a master of your craft. Be good at what you do but also do it with passion, humility and positivity. Remember, nobody wants to work with a jerk. You can’t make it in this industry alone so don’t be too proud to ask for a bit of help every now and then
