Back with a banger after his recent tour cancellation, ‘Friends’ is a collaboration between Justin Bieber and American music producer, BloodPop®.

Long-time friends themselves, BloodPop® and Biebs first collaborated for the triple platinum, Grammy Award-nominated album ‘Purpose’ (which contained songs such as ‘Sorry’, ‘What Do You Mean?’ and ‘Love Yourself’), and with this latest release (BloodPop®’s official single debut) they look to have struck gold again.

This first release for BloodPop® follows the producer working with pop royalty and upcoming stars such as: Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Haim, Fifth Harmony, Grimes and MØ. Earlier this month, BloodPop® gave an upbeat remix to Haim’s latest banger ‘Little of your love’.

‘Friends’, which is clearly about a breakup, has unsurprisingly had fans madly talking about who the song is about, with many people speculating… but it’s probably about Selena Gomez.

Featuring lines such as; “Girl, you wonderin’ why I’ve been callin’? / Like I’ve got ulterior motives / No, we didn’t end this so good / But you know we had something so good,” and “So I’m wondering, can we still be friends? / Can we still be friends? / Doesn’t have to end / And if it ends, can we be friends?” It’s no surprise people are pointing the finger at Gomez.

The release of ‘Friends’ comes after Bieber cancelled the remaining 14 shows of his Purpose World Tour, citing ‘unforeseen circumstances’ after having performed 150 shows on six continents over 17 months. Bieber also faced controversy having been banned from China due to his ‘bad behaviour’.

Despite this, Justin Bieber is once again dominating global charts, music downloads, sales and providing a soundtrack for the summer with the ‘Despacito (Remix)’ smashing the charts and the DJ Khaled/Justin Bieber collaboration ‘I’m The One’ also hitting No. 1.
