Nathan Sykes is back at it again with the new songs. ‘Famous’ is Sykes’ fourth single from his much-anticipated debut album, ‘Unfinished Business’, which releases 4th November.

The new single, released today, was written by  Nathan and Executive Producer Harmony Samuels alongside Major Johnson Finley and Carmen Reece. But what’s the song about?

Well, according to Nathan “Famous is a song that was inspired by someone that I was very close to when I was in the band and when the band decided to take a break they suddenly stopped talking to me. It prompted me to ask the very simple question what do I have to do to make you care about me as much as I care about you? Do I have to be Famous?”

Believe it or not, this isn’t the first song someone has written about famous acquaintances, and although it seems as if Nathan is staying tight-lipped about the person who inspired him to put pen to paper, these famous artists haven’t been all too quiet who they’ve decided to sing about.

‘Dear John’ – Taylor Swift

Written About: John Mayer

Yes, Tay Tay wrote this song about ex, John Mayer, who wasn’t too keen on the track. He spoke to Rolling Stone saying: “It made me feel terrible, because I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.” Yikes.

‘Cry Me A River’ – Justin Timberlake

Written about: Britney Spears

Remember the golden days of Justin and Britney? Of course, the relationship didn’t last and this caused JT to hot foot it to the studio to write and record this about Britney. He later confirmed it was in fact about the blonde beauty.

‘7 Things’ – Miley Cyrus

Written about: Nick Jonas

Back when Disney Channel was at its strongest and ready for world domination, ‘Niley’ was the ultimate ship that we all bowed down to. The ultimate OTP. Sadly, being young and fulfilling highly demanding jobs, the pair split and Miley wrote ‘7 Things’. Now, it was confirmed a while later it was about the youngest JoBro but tbh, with a polaroid picture of the pair and his face covered up, his curly mop was kind of a giveaway. Oops.

‘Wedding Bells’ – The Jonas Brothers

Written about: Miley Cyrus

It seems that even years after their split, Nick still cared about Miley because the JoBros released ‘Wedding Bells’ when Miley and Liam Hemsworth got engaged (the first time). #Niley4ever

‘The Heart Wants What It Wants – Selena Gomez

Written about: Justin Bieber

Shortly after (one of the many) Jelena break ups, this was a song that heartbroken Sel wrote about Biebs and you can really sense the emotions. Whether you are a fan of them or not, everyone kind of shipped Jelena, right?

‘Don’t’ – Ed Sheeran

Written about: Ellie Goulding

We all saw this coming a mile off. She was dating Ed and then rumoured to be having fun with none other than Niall Horan. If you remember seeing The VMAs 2013, you probably remember the rumours and drama that sparked. Then Ed went and dropped this banger, which pretty much confirmed it all before he was later asked if he forgave Niall, to which he answered: ‘I guess. I got over the anger the moment I wrote the song. That’s the end of it. I’m grateful I could get a song out of it, to be honest.’ PHEW. Awkward drama is the last thing we all wish to witness.

‘You Suck’ – Abigail Breslin

Written about: Michael Clifford

Does this even need an explanation? The lyrics are pretty much spelling it out for you. ‘I hate your dumb tattoo, I wish you’d fly to the moon.’ Oh, hi, Michael’s tattoo ‘To The Moon’. ‘You’re just a dumbass bleaching your hair well, I hope it all falls out.” Actually, Mikey, better be careful on that one because Abigail’s wish might come true. The couple had a brief fling some time ago and Breslin decided to take her anger out on the 5SOS guitarist by penning this song. Come on, Abi, babes. Leave a little mystery to who it’s about, yeah? I like a good guessing game.

Nathan Sykes’ ‘Famous’ is available now.
