Pride Month or not, we at UBP are all for celebrating sexuality and individuality as a whole, so we’re thrilled to hear about how happy Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui is feeling post coming out.
Back in 2016, Lauren first made her sexuality public in an open letter to Donald Trump on Billboard, and now she is talking about how her coming out has had a major impact in the way she feels about herself.
In an interview with The Sun, she explained, “For me, coming into my own and being comfortable with myself really changed me as a person, and made me more confident and vibrant.”
Lauren also goes on to discuss just how much representation matters and how numerous fans have spoken to her about their own identities. “A bunch of my fans have come up to me and said, ‘Because of you and because you came out, I have finally begun to accept myself,” she explained. “That is infinitely incredible for me. I didn’t expect to get to the point where I would own up to it within myself.
“It’s hard to accept yourself when you live in a world where nobody is like you, or you feel like nobody is like you because there’s no representation,” she added.
Lauren has since featured on Halsey‘s track ‘Strangers’, which uses female pronouns that suggest the song is about a same-sex relationship – proof of how confident she’s now feeling to openly sing about these topics.
We are so beyond happy that Lauren has found more strength within after coming out publicly and that she can be an advocate for the LGBTQA+ community, providing support for her fans and any young person.
