DNCE’s Joe Jonas has a chat about life in the hottest new band

DNCE have made an incredible impact on the music industry in such a short space of time following last years super hit ‘Cake By The Ocean’. The band, made up of  Joe Jonas, Cole Whittle, JinJoo and Jack Lawless haven’t even got an album out yet and they are already selling out headline shows and on tour with one of the biggest stars in the world. Joe (previously in the Jonas Brothers) sat down this month and had a chat with Fault Magazine about all things DNCE.

He revealed the difficult process when creating the band and how tough it was to find the right process and sound “At first, we had a bit of a writer’s block and we couldn’t quite figure out the vibe that we wanted. And finally, we worked with new producers from Sweden and kind of just broke the mold. It all happened very quickly and we’re really thrilled with the reaction and how things have happened so far.”

When really getting into the creative process, Joe spoke about how spontaneity can be a big factor to making great music on the road “There are moments when it’s just me and the writers or the producers. And other times, there are the recording sessions and you’ve got the whole band in there, all collaborating. We can write anywhere, that’s why I love touring cause there’s always an opportunity to create when you’re traveling.”

And of course, you couldn’t wipe out his many successful years in Jonas Brothers who sold millions of records worldwide. Obviously this has had an impact with Joe as he’s incredibly well known all around the world.

He revealed “I think fame is something that kind of comes with what you do. Some people handle it differently. I grew up around it, so it hasn’t always been an easy thing for me, but you learn to adjust and adapt to how you’re comfortable.”

He then went on to add “Ultimately, there are things that you’re gonna be cool with and things that are gonna be tough to get over. But at the end of the day, if you remember where you come from and how it can all go away so easily, it makes it a little bit easier to handle.”

‘Toothbrush’, the brand new single and follow up to ‘Cake By The Ocean’ is out now and will be impacting in September.
