Have you watched the premiere episodes of How I Met Your Father and thought you recognised the voice singing the theme song? That’s because it’s indie pop singer Lennon Stella.
How I Met Your Father is a new Hulu series, serving as a stand-alone spin-off to the sitcom How I Met Your Mother which wrapped its ninth and final season in 2014. The show stars plenty of famous faces including Hilary Duff, Kim Cattrall and Josh Peck.
The series gender-flips the plot of the original, this time focusing on a woman named Sophie (played by Hilary Duff in 2022 and Kim Cattrall in the future) as she tells her son about how she met his dad.
According to a release, it’s described as “a story that catapults us back to the year 2022, where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”
The intro to every episode sees Lennon Stella share her version of ‘Hey Beautiful’, the same theme song from the original which was performed by The Solids – a band consisting of the show’s creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.

Releasing the full song on social media, Lennon wrote “THIS IS COOOOL. My full version of the theme song for ‘How I met your Father’ is out now!!! ‘Hey beautiful’ ❤️”
Craig Thomas, who also serves as executive producer of How I Met Your Father, took to Twitter to praise Lennon. “OK, I’ll admit it: [Lennon] does this song better than we ever did. Bravo!” he wrote. “It’s a hit.”
