Everything we know so far about season 3 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series
An OG HSM star is joining the cast!
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series has started production on its third season after it was renewed in September 2021. Disney has revealed some new details about the cast, music, and plot of the next installment.
Season three will see our Wildcats in a sleepaway camp, Camp Shallow Lake, in California for the summer. The campers will put on a Frozen musical, which was finally confirmed back in November in a teaser video on HSMTMTS’ Instagram page. Not only will the cast be singing songs from the wintry franchise, but there will also be performances of songs from High School Musical and Camp Rock.
The main cast is returning for the third season, including Olivia Rodrigo, who was confirmed to return in December 2021. Two new characters will be meeting them at Camp Shallow Lake: Jet, a “mysterious new kid” played by singer Adrian Lyles, and Maddox, a “bright-eyed, quick-witted techie” played by Saylor Bell.
Disney also announced three new guest starring roles, including Corbin Bleu—Chad in the original High School Musical franchise—who will guest star as himself. Jason Earles, known for his role as Jackson on Hannah Montana, will play “stone-faced” Camp Director Dewey Wood. Earles was actually the HSMTMTS cast’s acting coach for the first two seasons. Meg Donnelly, will also guest star as a college-aged camp counselor named Val. Donnelly is an actress and singer who has performed with Alessia Cara and Avril Lavigne.
There’s no word yet on when the third season is expected to premiere, but fans can catch up on the first two seasons on Disney+.
