Prepare for the release of ‘Blair Witch’ with this horror film guide
I love a good scare and all things from the 1990s, so naturally, I was excited when I heard about a follow-up to ‘The Blair Witch Project’. The latest instalment in the franchise ‘Blair Witch‘ is out in cinemas now, and looks even more horrifying than the last film. It is set 20 years after James’ sister and her friends disappear in the Black Hills Forest, Maryland – all to investigate the legend of the Blair Witch. James and his friends decide it’s time to pay the woods another visit (with video cameras because this is the digital age after all). What starts out as a harmless adventure, turns into the all too real and unnerving reality of the Blair Witch.
Things are going to escalate very quickly in ‘Blair Witch’ so I’ve taken it upon myself to prepare you for the skin crawling, scream-inducing, fear filling reality of one of the scariest horror films of 2016. Here are ten things you can do to prepare for Blair.
1. Wine, wine, wine.
I mean you could have a glass to ease the tension… or an entire bottle if you need to forget what you saw. (Some friendly advice from me to you: make sure the bottle says Blossom Hill and not Black Hills, okay?)
2. Get a cushion, or better yet a pillow.
You can hide from all the evil, and it also doubles up as a super accessory, for maximum comfort.
3. Bring one of your best pals with you.
Because no one wants to sleep alone after seeing a horror film.
4. Get snacks and lots of them.
They call it comfort food for a reason… get variety so you’re distracted by choice too.
5. Comfortable clothes.
This one is for optimum curling-up opportunities, I like to call this attire ‘feels like pyjamas, but socially acceptable to wear in public’. Or if you really don’t care just wear your actual pyjamas to the cinema. (I once did this at a drive-in film, and I have no regrets about it.)
6. A torch, a lamp, the sun… just some sort of general light source.
Just another casual accessory to take to the cinema with you. Say it’s for ambience, or better yet say you popped into IKEA before hand. Of course, it’s actually to reassure you that you won’t be in the dark, but no one needs to know that.
7. A beautiful human being.
Whether you prefer a handsome hunk or a lovely lady, take a date to hide into when you’re scared (and when you’re not if you catch my drift).
8. Your favourite Disney film.
Something family friendly to watch immediately after, to cleanse your spirit from all of the evil you watched.
9. Blanket.
Just another cosy resource you can use to hide behind.
10. A reality check.
And finally remember to chill out because it’s just a film… and it’s not real. (At least I hope not, for both of our sakes!)
Are you prepared for Blair now? I hope so because ‘Blair Witch’ is in cinemas now.
