Disney have released some of the most popular films at the global box office over the last 12 months, and don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. They have just released the first one-sheet for the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ live-action re-make – it’s magical!
The poster is a blast from the past, as it highlights a single rose isolated in a glass case. All Disney fanatics will remember this symbol from the 1991 animation. In the film the flower acts as a reminder to the Beast of the curse he is under. It represents his selfishness as a Prince.
Locked away in the Beast’s castle, the rose acts as a constant reminder that he only has a limited time to seal his fate – whether good or bad. One of our favourite quotes from the film is “if he could learn to love another, and earn their love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time.”
This re-make promises to re-tell the tale as old as time in a modern live-action film featuring Emma Watson as Belle. Belle, is a beautiful, independent young lady who is taken prisoner by a horrible Beast. Instead of embracing her fear, she flies away from it and befriends the unique set of staff in the castle. Her kind heart allows her to see the good in the Beast and the Prince that lies within him.
This certainly taught us a life lesson or two back in the day, and we can’t wait to get a refresher – along with an entirely new generation.
‘Beauty and the Beast’ is out in cinemas in Spring 2017.
