Selena Gomez is officially the new face of Coach. The most followed person on Instagram was picked up last year for the iconic fashion partnership. Shot by Steven Meisel with creative direction by Fabien Baron, makeup by Pat McGrath, and hair by Guido Palau, the fall fashion line advertising reveals a sophisticated Hollywood starlet in all her gorgeous glory.
“Selena is a warm, charming person, so to spend time with her is a real pleasure,” said creative director Stuart Vevers at the brand’s New York headquarters. “A lot of the words I’ve used about Coach I found myself very seamlessly using about Selena. We talk about authenticity and ease, and I think that’s why we made the connection.”
Selena keeps it real in her connection with her fans in a generation which highly influenced by the world of pop culture and celebrities and has become a true icon of Generation Z.
“She’s found a way to communicate with the next generation. That, to me, was fascinating,” said Vevers.
Gomez will also be partnering with the Coach Foundation in its support of Step Up, a national organisation dedicated to the empowerment of teen girls from under-resourced communities.
Speaking about the collaboration, Selena said: “I couldn’t be more proud to be the face of Coach. “I’ve also loved working with Stuart, I admire his vision and his designs.”
Coinciding with the launch of the fall collection, Coach created three short films which are dedicated to the key bags of the season – the Rogue, the Coach Swagger and the Edie. Each video, created by Baron & Baron, sees Selena Gomez getting ready in an NYC apartment for a night out on the town. These will be released in July.
