The Driver Era emerged onto the music scene over 2 years ago now, and the brothers have made sure they still have time for their music alongside their other projects.

Ross and Rocky Lynch had plenty of success with former pop band R5, which consisted of their brother, sister and family friend. Their most recent project, The Driver Era, is also not short of success especially with their most recent releases ‘OMG Plz Don’t Come Around’ and ‘flashdrive’.

The brothers discussed in a recent interview with The Aquarian that ‘OMG Plz Don’t Come Around’ is inspired by their brother’s toxic relationship and was written a few years ago, but they have only just got round to releasing it. Ross joked on Instagram that the song title has ‘nothing to do with the coronavirus’ since the release has happened in the pandemic.

Each of the songs is sung by each brother. Ross sings on ‘OMG Plz Don’t Come Around’, and the song tells a story of a toxic relationship. The lyrics unfold a narrative to the listener as the unique music makes a mark in the back. Towards the end of the song, the tune changes slightly and Ross starts to sing highly with a keyboard playing in the background. It is typical of The Driver Era to add in changes to their songs, and this definitely one of the things that makes them so original.

Rocky then sings on ‘flashdrive’ which is seen to be a more ‘morning-after’ song since it is much more chilled. The lyrics of this song also take the listener through a relationship that you keep going back to, even though it breaks your heart each time.

Each song considered, The Driver Era have pulled it out of the bag again with their unique twists on alternative pop music that they write, record and produce in their home garage.
