Your fave songwriting duo is back! Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran (known to fans as Sweeran) released their ‘The Joker and The Queen’ music video today.

‘The Joker and The Queen’ is the fourth single from Ed’s album and interestingly, this new remix is his fourth collaboration with Taylor following 2012’s ‘Everything Has Changed’, 2017’s ‘End Game’ and 2021’s ‘Run’ (originally written for Red in 2012).

Swifties first began to suspect a collab was brewing when they spotted some Easter eggs left by the pair. Ed first teased it by revealing that he’s working on a remix of the song with “an American artist”.

Fans quickly spotted Taylor’s name hidden in his ‘Overpass Graffiti’ music video – on the back of a biker jacket and in a newspaper article. Shortly after, Taylor released some Red (Taylor’s Version) playing cards on her merch website. It’s also worth remembering that the pair went on tour together in 2013, where one night Ed dressed up as a clown (aka a joker) to surprise Taylor on stage.

Their theory was proved right at The Brits earlier this week, when Ed exclusively revealed  on the red carpet that Taylor would be featuring on the song. He also debuted ‘The Joker and The Queen’ with a solo performance that night.

Fast forward to today, when the new version was released, and it’s even better than we imagined. Taylor has her own verse, along with new lyrics and a co-writing credit.

Not only that, the song was also released alongside a cute music video which ties back to Sweeran’s first ever collab. Remember the kids from the ‘Everything Has Changed’ music video in 2013? Well they’re all grown up now and are reunited in the video.

The childhood sweethearts, played by Ava Ames and Jack Lewis, continue their story as high school students who have grown apart. The video uses a split screen to show them leading separate lives while secretly missing each other.

Talking about the video on social media, Ed wrote:

“Me and Taylor first met and wrote + recorded our first song together in 2012, ten years ago now, I’m so so honoured to have her on this song. Not only is she the best singer/songwriter in the world but she’s also a very close friend, I’m very lucky to have her in my life. For the music video we got the kids from our song Everything Has Changed, all grown up and off to college now!”

Taylor also posted an Instagram story, saying “Congrats @teddysphotos!! This video makes me think of our friendship all these years 🥺 also can’t believe Jack & Ava from the Everything Has Changed video came back and did this!! Nostalgic heaven !”
