Following the release of her chart domineering track ‘Cheap Thrills’, Sia has revealed a video for her new single ‘The Greatest’ which features Maddie Ziegler (the young dancer who’s accompanied her in most of her videos including ‘Chandelier’ and ‘Elastic Heart’).
Critics have labelled the video as a tribute to the mass shooting that occurred at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub in June, due to the subtle but powerful imagery.
Though Sia hasn’t confirmed this herself there are certainly a few connotations that resemble the horrific attack. One of the dancers in her video, however, has taken to Instagram and pretty much suggested it is.
In the video, there are 49 young dancers, the same amount of people involved in the terror attack. At the end, everyone falls down in a nightclub, revealing what looks like a bullet-riddled wall.
The track itself also features Kendrick Lamar who doesn’t feature in the video itself.
Pretty powerful stuff huh? It turns out the Australian songstress has given us quite a few powerful and inspiring lyrics too. Here’s just a few of our favourite Sia lyrics that are equally as powerful.
