Daniel Seavey’s second single, ‘Other People,’ in his upcoming debut album DS1, is a heartfelt tribute to a relationship that no longer ignited passion and love.

Die-hard Darlings and Why Don’t We fans might recognize this track from Seavey’s tour opening for Benson Boone in the UK. Or from Daniel’s TikTok snippets that he has been teasing over the course of the summer.

While it shares the same melancholy vibe as his first single, ‘The Older You Get,’ this one feels more like a song you’d cry to in your car while it rains than a traditional guitar ballad. The lyrics, “It’s comin’ on real slow, it’s out of our control/ And every time we breathe, a piece of us is dying’/ So, tell me how you feel, was any of this real?“ explain to the listeners that it was a situation where feelings slowly faded over time. It wasn’t an abrupt change from one person, but rather a gradual process where the fire slowly dimmed until it was no longer there.

Prior to releasing the track, Daniel posted a TikTok going into further detail about the song that he has been holding onto for so long. The words on the video say, “One day you’re in a relationship that has made you the most insecure you’ve ever been and the next you find someone who lets you be your best and most authentic self,” reflecting on his relationship with his current girlfriend, Kat Castellano, who he says saved him from falling apart.

As this next chapter arises for Daniel, fans can expect more TikToks, heart wrenching songs, an album release date, and his upcoming tour dates in America with Benson Boone. For now Daniel’s fans the Darlings will be sure to have ‘Other People’ on repeat while crying their eyes out and awaiting an album release date. United By Pop can’t wait to see what surprise he has up his sleeve for us this fall. Listen here.
