Tate McRae is THE moment. I caught her first of two sold-out shows in NYC and it was everything.
She’s the definition of a popstar. The energy Tate brought to the stage was through the roof. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen an artist have as much fun as she does while performing — and what a performance it was.
Every couple of songs, Tate would be joined by her two dancers (Kerrynton Jones and Stevie Doré). It was absolutely incredible to see these three completely take over the venue with their stage presence. A true pleasure to watch.
Tate’s voice is even more stunning live than it is in her recordings, which was hard for me to comprehend since I was already obsessed. Every single song was full of emotion and her range is INSANE.
The setlist covered everything from the first song she ever wrote, “One Day,” to the viral hit “she’s all i wanna be,” to a cover of The Script’s “Breakeven.” The crowd was electric. There wasn’t a single song where every person in the room wasn’t singing as loud as they could. I could feel the love for sure, and Tate definitely felt it too.
It’s been two years since her last tour, and she didn’t miss a beat. If you missed this show, she still has a handful of dates left on her North American headlining tour. She’s also opening for Shawn Mendes later this year! Hopefully I’ll get to get out and see her perform some of her debut album (out May 27!) to a bunch of sold-out arenas — something I have absolutely no doubt she’ll nail. Thank you Tate McRae for having me out and keep doing what you’re doing — you’re killing it!
