Taylor Swift has pleasantly surprised fans by releasing ‘The Archer‘ – a haunting ballad which gives a glimpse into the heavier side of her upcoming album Lover. The song is the all-important track number 5 – a spot which is traditionally reserved for her most personal and emotionally vulnerable songs.
Written and produced with Jack Antonoff, The Archer gives a raw yet dreamy insight into the star’s struggle with relationships, friendships and even her own self-image. With lyrics like “Who could ever leave me darling / but who could stay?” and “All my enemies started out friends”, the song feels like a catharsis for Swift whilst being heartbreaking for fans to listen to.
Despite the track not being a single, it’s already broken the internet and captured the hearts of Swifties everywhere – but is it your favourite track 5 out of all her albums? Vote below and let us know @unitedbypop.
