While waiting for this iconic day, we’ve been speculating for months on what we could get and what it could mean; now it’s finally here and we can say happy 10th anniversary to the biggest boyband in the world, the one and only One Direction!
Ten years seems like a very long time to still be able to count on so many fans all over the world, especially if you consider they’ve been on hiatus for half of those, but their power stays unmatched: we’ve been trending hashtags for days, we’ve been crashing websites, we’ve been clowning over the ‘Infinity’ music video, we’ve been complaining for the lack of actually new content but also crying over the old footage and performances and memories. We even got the official One Direction accounts coming back to life for the occasion (check them out to stay updated since apparently a “1D week” is waiting for us!)…It’s been 2012 all over again and, honestly, we regret nothing.
And, even though all of them are now happily pursuing their solo careers, our boys – and a lot of their family members, friends and people who worked with them – proved once again how much they will always love the band, each other and us fans and caused a never ending series of emotional breakdowns with their words.
Liam opened the dances this morning thanking the fans and the boys and sharing the text he sent to his dad 10 years ago when the band was formed, making us all emotional at 8 am. What a great start of the day!
What a journey… I had no idea what we were in for when I sent this text to my Dad ten years ago at this exact time the band was formed. Thanks to everyone that’s supported us over the years and thanks to the boys for sharing this with me #10YearsOfOneDirection pic.twitter.com/0d17ggB66x

He also did some interviews sharing some of his best memories from the 1D days and spreading loads of love and nice words, as he usually does; and, since apparently he didn’t think it was enough he even hurt our feelings on Instagram and TikTok.

Then Louis Tommo Tomlinson went down memory lane and, staying true to his words “I don’t mind sharing”, he dragged us with him and shared the pain.
He tweeted saying he spent the morning watching old interviews and performances, he posted on Instagram the first picture of them together that was taken by his beloved mum Johannah after noticing a tweet about it from an account that posts 1D throwbacks every day and that is still there thanks to Louis who told them he loved their content when they once announced they were going to stop posting (what a king), he replied to some fans and basically proved he’s one of us when it comes to the band. We feel you, Lou!
Niall attacked – and keeps attacking – us with pictures of the five of them on stage and some sweet words addressed to the boys, the fans and the crew.
And Harry put us out of misery posting a picture of them hugging on stage with an emotional caption, thanking again everyone who made all of this possible: themselves, their team, their staff and especially the fans.
They’ve liked and commented each other’s stuff throwing heart emojis and “love you” all around, all their posts got million likes in few hours on every social media and that’s on being legends.
We might still be crying over Louis’ “ALL”, over Harry’s “I love you so much”, over Niall’s “US”, over Liam’s “By us, One Direction” but at the end of the day it will always be worth it. They will always be part of us and have a special place in our hearts.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ONE DIRECTION!
We really are the greatest team that the world has ever seen ❤️
