On Our Radar: Icona Pop, Clean Bandit, Thirdstory, and more
If you’re on the look-out for the freshest sounding new songs to add to your playlist this week, you’re in the right place. On our radar this week is the best new music to come out of the United States and the United Kingdom, featuring artists you might have heard of like Icona Pop and newcomers like Alisiana.
Sofi de la Torre ft. Blackberry – ‘Flex Your Way Out’
United Kingdom
The music video for Sofi’s newest single ‘Flex Your Way Out’ features a lot of what she refers to as “banal imagery” and “things that aren’t obviously beautiful.” She explains, “I gravitate a lot towards things that aren’t obviously beautiful. I try to stay away from anything that’s too perfect. And I think that comes through in both my music and visuals.”

Nylon Waves – ‘Don’t Call Me BAE’
United Kingdom
Richie Aquino, Bradly Baldwin, and Kassie White, the trio behind Nylon Waves, pay tribute to the sounds of the 90’s but with a millennial twist in their single ‘Don’t Call Me BAE’. They describe the song as “[challenging] how our generation approaches love and a need to be something more or different than what or who we really are.”

Thirdstory – ‘Hotline Bling’ (Cover)
United States
The three guys from New York behind Thirdstory, Ben, Elliott and Richard, are heading out to London to bring their amazing covers and harmonies to Omeara on 28 November. They recently released their EP ‘Searching’, produced by Malay (who’s also worked with Zayn).

Alisiana – ‘Just Kiss Me’

Alisiana has been singing she was 4 and writing music she was 13. She made it to the semi-finals on ‘The Voice’, and now she’s releasing her first UK pop single.

Becky Hill – ‘Warm’

The follow up to ‘Back to My Love’, this track has already been featured as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record in the World’ on Radio1. Becky will be performing at Electrowerkz in London on 2 November.

Lindsey Stirling – ‘Prism’

Lindsey, your resident electronic violinist, New York Times Best Selling author, and YouTube sensation, is currently performing all over the U.S. and will be embarking on a European tour in February. Her brand new video for ‘Prism’ already has 1.5m YouTube views.

Kelvin Jones – ‘As You Wake Up’

Kelvin Jones just performed at London’s Camden Assembly on 20 October. He mixes up pop and blues sound in his single ‘As You Wake Up’, and the accompanying lyric video is visually stimulating and far beyond the average.

Icona Pop – ‘Brightside’

Icona Pop made a worldwide name for themselves with their single ‘I Love It’ and toured the U.S. opening up for One Direction. Now they’re back with a new banger ‘Brightside’, and you can also catch their voices in the new movie ‘Trolls‘ alongside Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick.
