If you’re always on the hunt for new bands to love and cherish, we’ve found just the thing – and they come in the form of YLR. Three lads from across the UK who bonded over a mutual love of music and performing. Soon to be supporting Jack Maynard on tour after winning his ‘YouTube X Factor‘, we’ve got an exclusive look at their brand new video for their rendition of Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey’s ‘The Middle.’
For any potential new fans out there, introduce yourself. What are your names and where are you from?
HEY! We’re YLR! We have Aaron Denniss from Kent, Hedley James from Belfast & Jay Scott from Wolverhampton.
How did you guys meet? How did you decide you wanted to become a trio?
We met in 2017 through a separate music project based in London. We really clicked with each other & loved singing/performing together, plus we have a RIGHT laugh doing it. When the opportunity presented itself to become a trio we took it and have been together ever since.

Who are your biggest influences? Current and past?
Collectively some of our biggest inspirations include Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Destiny’s Child, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland & Boyz II Men.
Which artist would you want to meet and collaborate with the most?
Ooh, this is such a hard question as there are so many artists we’d love to work with! That being said, a dream collab would have to be with either Pharrell or Timbaland.
Both are extraordinary producers/songwriters who have worked with some of the most successful artists of all time. Being in the same room with that energy, knowledge and experience would really be a dream come true for us. We’d be so overwhelmed & would definitely all be crying!
You’re covering ‘The Middle’ by Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey in your latest video. What is the deciding factor when choosing a song for you guys to cover? What approach do you take when covering a very popular song?
We wanted to pick something current that people would recognise but we wanted to make it our own and do the ‘YLR’ version. ‘The Middle’ is actually an emotional song when you strip it back to just the melody and lyrics so we tried to convey that in our own way as much as possible when we were recording it.
In terms of our upcoming covers, we want to take requests from the fans and cover songs that they want to hear. We do enjoy covering other artists but, that being said, we’ve got some original material dropping soon that we’re even more excited about, we can’t wait for everyone to hear it so keep your eyes peeled on our social media for announcements.
