Swifties have been anxiously waiting for Taylor to pop up and surprise us all with a release and today is finally that day. She’s been quiet on all fronts for pretty much all of 2022 so far, but it turns out there’s a good reason for it – she’s been working hard on bringing us new music.
As we all know, Taylor is in the process of re-recording all her old music that she doesn’t own. Her first release was Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in April 2021, followed by Red (Taylor’s Version) in November.
She’s been teasing us with easter eggs for 1989 (Taylor’s Version) throughout the year, knowing fully well that we’re all going to collectively lose our minds once it’s finally released. The power that iconic album holds is unmatched!
Our first glimpse into the re-recorded 1989 was with ‘Wildest Dreams’, when it featured in the trailer of the film Spirit Untamed in March 2021. Six months later, after the song blew up on TikTok, Taylor released the full version and we’ve had it on repeat ever since.
In November, ‘Bad Blood’ was used in a new trailer for DC League of Super-Pets. Although it was never confirmed, fans are convinced that it had to have been the re-recorded version in order for Taylor to have given her approval.
Now, Taylor is officially releasing her version of ‘This Love’!
Yesterday Taylor announced that the re-recorded track will feature in the upcoming Amazon Prime series The Summer I Turned Pretty – and that she would be releasing it today.
“I’ve always been so proud of this song and I’m very 🥺🥺🥺 about this turn of events – This Love (Taylor’s Version) comes out tonight at m i d n i g h t!”
The song is out now and it’s even more beautiful than we imagined. Despite never being a single, the song is well-loved by fans and Taylor herself even commented on all the memories she has playing it on tour.
The crisp vocals! The ethereal cover art! The haunting lyric video!
1989 (Taylor’s Version) is coming and we are not prepared for it.
