Red Velvet’s Seulgi is set to make her solo debut with the mini-album 28 Reasons.
As announced through Red Velvet’s social media accounts and by SM Entertainment on September 13, the EP will be released on October 4; 28 Reasons will include a total of six songs – led by the title song ‘28 Reasons’ and it’s already available to pre-order on various online and offline record store sites.
The release marks Seulgi’s first solo release since her debut with Red Velvet in 2014 and according to SM Entertainment, “Seulgi will show all of her unique musical colors and ability to take on any concept”.
To announce the mini-album, Seulgi shared the official album trailer. In the one-and-a-half-minute video, Seulgi shows and is in the centre of a dark and sinister concept; the trailer photography is what you could expect from a horror movie, and some of the settings and sounds. The trailer also includes creepy settings and behaviours that will give viewers the chills, broken mirrors, whistling ghosts and other imagery and objects belonging to superstitions.

Other than being a member of Red Velvet, Seulgi is part of their sub-unit Irene & Seulgi. The duo released the EP Monster in 2020.
Moreover, Seulgi joined SM Entertainment’s artists NCT’s Jeno and SM Rookies’ Shohei and Eunseok at Peter Do‘s fashion show during the New York Fashion Week and stunned the audience.
In addition, SM Entertainment and Peter Do signed a partnership and collaborated through the New York Fashion Week runway show. In a press release, SM Entertainment has stated that “starting with this fashion show, SM plans to receive collaboration and consulting on global fashion events, including the United States, based on Peterㅇdo’s global fashion network, and Peterㅇdo plans to rewrite the future of the fashion world through collaboration with SM artists.”.
Seulgi’s first solo mini-album, 28 Reasons, will be released on October 4.
