Lewis Capaldi just announced his sophomore album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, after the release of his chart-topping single “Forget Me,” and a long hiatus. The news also comes with the announcement of the companion world tour starting in the UK and EU in early 2023.
Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent will be released on May 19, 2023, marking a highly-anticipated return for Lewis after the success of his debut album, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent. The new project will also reunite Lewis with past collaborators: TMS, Phil Plested, Nick Atkinson, and Edd Holloway.
“I don’t want to create a new sound for myself, or reinvent myself,” said Lewis in a press release. “The songs I want to write are emotional songs, about love or loss.”
The Scottish singer headlined festivals throughout Europe this summer, and performed two sold-out shows in London’s O2 Arena in September, where he announced “Forget Me” as the lead single through a TikTok livestream during the final night. He became the third artist this year to have a single go to number one in the first week, and it’s nearing 100 million streams worldwide.
Lewis is returning to arenas for a world tour starting this winter starting Jan. 14 in Leeds at First District Arena. He’s going to make his way to North America in the spring, playing venues like Radio City Music Hall in New York City, before ending in New Zealand in July. Tour dates, ticket and presale information can be found on his website.
“I’m ready, and so are the songs,” said Lewis. Coincidentally, we’re also ready to hear more from him!
