For the first time in K-pop touring history, fans will have the chance to see four different acts on the same bill. TRENDZ, CRAXY, ICHILLIN’, and soloist U-Chae will be performing in 30 cities in both the U.S. and Canada. While the concept of multiple K-pop artists attending the same one-off show or festival isn’t a new idea, the thought of a full tour with several artists seemed like a far-off dream until the announcement. Tour promoter Leo Presents have taken on the challenge of managing this massive production after the several successful K-pop tours they put on in 2023. Some of their previous runs have given smaller groups with loyal fanbases (Purple Kiss, PIXY, TRI.BE) the chance to shine internationally and meet their fans in the U.S. and Canada.
This tour offers a variety of sounds and vibes within the lineup. TRENDZ is a seven-member group signed under Global H Media, and they made their debut in 2022, and they recently released their bright mini album DREAMLIKE. Debuting in 2020 under SAI Entertainment, CRAXY is a four-member girl group that’s become known for their recent bold and hard-hitting sound. ICHILLIN’ is a seven-member girl group under KM Entertainment, they debuted in 2021 with the upbeat single “GOT’YA”. Formerly known as Dajeong when she was a member of PIXY, U-Chae recently debuted as a soloist with her pre-release single “One Sweet Day”. The singer’s first mini album Awake will be released on July 31. These groups are in the first few years of their careers, and this tour gives them the perfect opportunity to solidify and grow their North American fanbase.
While most K-pop tours are contained to a small number of stops in the same cities that always host these artists, Leo Presents seems determined to reach as many corners of North America as they can. Their extensive tours are structured more similarly to the schedules of touring artists in the U.S., allowing fans a chance to see their favorite K-pop artists without having to spend money and hours of time traveling to the nearest metropolitan city in their region (if they get a show in their region, at all).
Fans everywhere are buzzing with excitement, as this could open the door for more multi-artist K-pop tours in the future. It’s not uncommon for international K-pop fans to listen to a variety of groups, so the concept of the tour itself is both fulfilling and easier on fans’ wallets. The designs on the poster and marketing for the KPOP Breakout Tour are a not-so-subtle nod to the iconic Vans Warped Tour, an alternative music tour that helped smaller artists reach a wider audience and gave fans their money’s worth. The tour also allows for the option of upgrades that allows ticket holders to participate in the fan sign, hi-touch, and group photo events, sit in on soundcheck, and even pose for a selfie with the artists. While the Warped Tour era is long over, it looks like K-pop fans are about to enter an era of fun, multi-group concerts that don’t cost a month’s rent.
