EXO’s Xiumin announces his first solo mini-album Brand New and officially starts the countdown to release day.
Xiumin’s first solo album since his debut will be released on September 26; pre-orders at various online – and offline – record stores are already available.
Brand New contains a total of five songs, including the title track ‘Brand New’; Xiumin received a great response by performing the pre-released song ‘Serenity’ at “SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU EXPRESS @ HUMAN CITY SUWON” on August 20.
“Xiumin has been enjoying global popularity as an all-rounder in the field of music, musicals and film” stated SM Entertainment. “He is expected to showcase another of his unexplored sides in his solo material.”
On September 14, Xiumin released the schedule poster for Brand New, raising expectations amongst EXO-Ls. Xiumin will capture fans’ attention with content such as mood sampler, teaser images and music video teaser. The mood sampler will drop on September 17 and the mood clip on September 19. The album and music video for ‘Brand New’ will arrive on September 26 at 6 pm KST.
Moreover, Xiumin has been cast in a new Korean Drama, his first role in seven years. On September 14, JTBC News announced that Xiumin will be starring as the lead in a new drama titled “Sajangdol Mart” (romanized title – “사장돌 마트” Korean title ). Later SM Entertainment confirmed the news via the Korean news outlet XSports.
Xiumin – whose real name is Kim Min Seok – debuted as an EXO member in 2012. Xiumin is also part of the EXO sub-unit EXO-CBX, the first official sub-unit of EXO that was formed in 2016. EXO-CBX consists of three members ― Baekhyun, Chen and Xiumin. Xiumin has also been pursuing an acting career after making his big screen debut in the 2016 movie “Seondal: The Man Who Sells the River”. Xiumin has also taken the stage as a member of the Hadestown Korean musical and played the role of Orpheus.
Xiumin’s upcoming mini-album release will make him the seventh member – out of nine – to go solo. He follows bandmates Baekhyun, Chen, Suho, Lay, Kai and D.O.
