One of our favourite female rappers, Doja Cat, has been back with a brand new single. After revealing earlier this week that she will drop new music, ‘Attention’ is the first snippet of her upcoming fourth-studio album. With a mix of a catchy drumbeat and her raps, the 27-year-old rapper is ready to show us once again what she has in store. – Maybe it’s so far her most authentic song.
Doja Cat already revealed in April this year a track list with songs that will be considered on her new album, without giving the details on it. ‘Attention’ was one of those songs and made it to the be the first lead single of her new era. In May she already shared a snippet on her Instagram live. We all know how Doja is, she loves dropping hints tweeting things as “scarlet was here 🩸” and “scarlet’s watching 🩸,”. In the track, you can definitely hear that Doja is comfortable with sharing her own unique sound now, it’s definitely not a poppy radio song as we used to know from her but its dark, slow, and still catchy. With lyrics like ‘I paid all my respect to those who taught me how to make it’ and ‘Now I reap the benefits with no confrontation. Y’all fall into beef, but that’s another conversation’, the rapper is definitely trying to tell us a story… but what exactly remains a mystery for now.
We definitely can’t wait what Doja Cat has more in store for us, but for now we are expecting a dark and mysterious era.
