Last year after two very special performances at Reading and Leeds festivals, Southampton punk band, Creeper vanished off the face of the earth. Social media accounts were deactivated and missing posters began to crop up in their place. There unfolded a cleverly calculated ‘missing persons’ search, commencing with a phone number which would provide a link to https://www.whereisjamesscythe.co.uk via text message. This website detailed the disappearance of paranormal investigator, James Scythe, sparking a cryptic treasure hunt with fans desperately trying to crack the mystery. After two months of guesswork and excitement, it eventually led to the release of new single, ‘Suzanne’ and the announcement of their debut record ‘Eternity, In Your Arms’.
During the three years that they have been a band, Creeper have consistently portrayed an image of mystery and in doing so have gained a ‘cult’ following of dedicated fans. They’re an exciting band with a hype that has followed and grown with them throughout their creative journey. Being likened to bands such as My Chemical Romance and with clear influences from Alkaline Trio and AFI, high hopes have been placed on this emerging six-piece to follow in such powerful footsteps.
Full of magic, energy and imagination, the band deliver a theatrical experience in both their live performances and imagery. What is refreshing about Creeper is that they’re trying to reignite that passion in fans that has somewhat been lost in the digital age.
About to embark across Europe on their biggest headline tour to date, today marks the release of the record that is set to leave a huge impact on the UK rock scene. They’ve built a whole narrative and world around The Callous Heart, The Stranger and James Scythe which you now have an opportunity to immerse yourselves in for a full 37 minutes.
The album is available to stream on Apple Music and Spotify or you can order it from here.
Join the Creeper Cult and catch them at a UK show with Energy and Puppy in what will probably be the smallest venues you’ll see them play in for a while to come.
