The new features of iOS10 you never knew you needed
After months of excitement, the Apple iOS10 update has finally arrived. But does it really live up to the hype? I saw the notification for the software update yesterday and I wasn’t 100 percent sure I was ready. I mean I’m happy with the way my iPhone works, do I need to change?
The next logical step was to check Twitter and check out other people’s responses to iOS10. I found there were both positive and negative reactions. I was a little sceptical at first, however, why not be a part of the growing technological world?
As with every new update, there are always a few tweaks Apple make which takes some time getting used to (the dreaded lock screen. I keep swiping to unlock. Uhh nope, you have to push the home button now). But overall, I like it. I’ve compiled a few of the new features you never knew you needed until now.
iMESSAGE
I don’t know about you but I LOVE the new features of the iMessage. I couldn’t stop playing around with it. I’ve named some of the features that have become my favourite:
- There’s an image search which allows you to search for anything you want including images, GIFS and animated videos.
- You can send handwritten messages by drawing onto your touchscreen with your finger. But wait, there’s more.
- You’ve got digital touch which allows you to send heartbeats, taps and squiggly drawings.
- I was also amazed at the iMessage effects. When writing a message you can choose to have it appear in confetti, invisible ink, fireworks and a few other effects.
RAISE TO WAKE
One thing which I found was quite handy was the ‘raise to wake’ function. If you hate continuously having to push the home button to see your notifications, iOS10’s got a fix. As soon as you pick your phone up, the screen will automatically light up without any buttons. Revolutionary. If you’re as lazy as me, this will come in handy. You can switch off the ‘raise to wake’ function as well.
DELETE DEFAULT APPS
Literally praising the lord right now. Finally, I can get rid of the useless stock app. I have never been so happy. Waste of space and good riddance.
EMOJI TAP
Now that emojis are becoming a vital part of messaging nowadays, there’s something you need to know. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve spent looking for the correct emoji. After you type a sentence in iMessage, go to the emojis screen and watch certain words highlight to be replaced with the correct emoji. You’re welcome.
What do you think? Are these features useful for you?
