Louis Tomlinson’s most recent track ‘Just Like You’ reached the coveted No. 1 spot on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart, and it’s all due to fans.
‘Just Like You’ was released as a special fan track—not a radio single and with little to no typical marketing efforts behind it. That means its success on the charts is 100 percent because of fan-driven efforts, prompting Louis to tweet, “This is unbelievable ! Without any radio or label single campaign. This shit is allllll you. Blown me away !”
Matt Burns (better known simply as Burns) produced the track and shared this screen shot on his Instagram:
Louis has always used social media and interviews to make it clear just how much he appreciates his fans, considering them an integral part of his team. “The support on Just Like You has been amazing so far !” he said in another tweet. “Teamwork !”
The lyrics of ‘Just Like You’ were written specifically for his fans, reminding them that even though he’s a successful musician and celebrity, he’s no different than they are. “[It] is a song I’m really attached to. It’s all about this view of celebrities that we’re impenetrable and almost not human, but fundamentally we all have the same problems,” he explained. “Heartbreak feels the same, loss feels the same, all these feelings are the same for all of us.”
He promises a lyric video for ‘Just Like You’ is on the way.
