Can you believe it’s been four years since James Arthur won the X Factor? Though his career took off instantly from winning the show, he’s been under the radar for a while.
That was then
After winning the show, his debut single ‘Impossible’ became the biggest X Factor winner’s song of all time, staying at No.1 for three weeks.
His debut album (also entitled ‘Impossible’) which was Brit Award nominated also contained the single ‘You’re Nobody Until Somebody Loves You’ which reached number 2 in the charts, along with collaborations featuring Naughty Boy and Emeli Sande.
Unfortunately, not long after his rise to fame, James struggled with the demands of stardom and went through a self-admitted public breakdown.
This is now
He’s picked himself up and dusted himself off and is back with brand new music, the boy did good! After working hard in the recording studio both in London and LA, the album will reflect on what he’s been through the past few years.
To give us a taster of what we can expect on the new album, James has released a music video for his new single ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’.
Speaking of the album, James said “I’m so excited to be back and getting my new music out there. It’s been a very turbulent few years, but I am now back to feeling better than ever and am really proud of the music. I can’t wait for people to hear it”
Reflecting back on how far James has come, we realised that the 2012 X Factor brought us some great finalists, from the likes of Lucy Spraggan, Ella Henderson, Union J and of course the winner, James Arthur.
To pay homage to those special XFactor winners, we’ve had a look at the most successful and erm…not so successful. Let’s take a look at what they’re doing in 2016.
Leona Lewis
Winning Year : 2006
Leona is currently performing as Grizabella in the hit musical ‘Cats’ on Broadway.
Alexandra Burke
Winning Year : 2008
Alexandra is playing the part of Deloris van Cartier (made famous by Whoopi Goldberg) in West End musical ‘Sister Act’.
Little Mix
Winning Year : 2011
As one of the most successful groups to come from the X Factor (in addition to One Direction of course), the girls’ career continues to grow from strength to strength. Having recently spoken about a new single and album there’s still much more to come from the sassy ladies.
Steve Brookstein
Winning Year : 2004
Remember him? Probably not! Steve was the first winner of the show. In 2014 he released a book ‘Getting Over The X’ about his X Factor *ahem* ‘experience’. Now, you’ll find him ranting about stuff on Twitter (yawn).
Shayne Ward
Winning Year : 2005
He is the only winner to have released an original song as his debut single. Shayne is now acting as Aidan Connor in Britain’s longest soap opera, Coronation Street.
Leon Jackson
Winning Year : 2007
The singer from West Lothian reportedly wrote the song ‘Sick Love’ with Vince Kidd (The Voice contender 2012), um yeah…that’s all we’ve got.
‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ is available to download now.
