From Nickelodeon to topping the charts: Is Mandy Rain the new Ariana Grande?
Since Ariana Grande burst onto our screens in Nickelodeon’s ‘Victorious’ in 2010, playing the loveable Cat Valentine, she has released three Billboard Top Two albums and toured the world, collecting plenty of awards along the way. Now, another star has broken free of her Nickelodeon chains and is ready to launch on to the pop scene herself.
Mandy Rain was discovered by rapper and host of ‘America’s Got Talent’, Nick Cannon, at the age of 12 when she auditioned for Nickelodeon’s ‘Star Club’. Nick then created a girlband around Mandy, making her the lead singer. School Gyrls were signed to Island’s Def Jam Records and went on to release two studio albums and star in two movies, alongside Justin Bieber.
Mandy is now going it alone and has recently surpassed a whopping 2,500,000 likes on her official Facebook page. Mandy’s Twitter also boasts over 250,000 followers.
