2024 has been an exciting year for solo artist Yves, the former member of K-pop sensation LOONA. She’s making waves with her solo career, having released her EP I Did this November. Now, Yves is ready to showcase her artistic vision as a soloist with her very first tour, the 2024 YVES APPLE CINNAMON CRUNCH TOUR IN EUROPE. Yves sat down with us to discuss her tour preparations, her growth as a solo artist, and to share a special message for her fans!

Yves, congratulations on your first solo European tour! What does the “APPLE CINNAMON CRUNCH TOUR” mean to you personally? Why did you chose this name?
Since this is my first tour as a solo artist, it carries a lot of meaning for me and seems to be a memorable moment for my fans as well. I chose the name ‘APPLE CINNAMON CRUNCH TOUR’ to represent my multifaceted charm — cute and sweet, but also bold and stylish.

We love a unique and personal tour name! Speaking of, can you share any behind-the-scenes stories from the tour preparations?
Actually, I’m juggling both music show performances and tour rehearsals. You know ow our brains have their limits, right? I had to learn new choreography, but my brain already felt maxed out, so I found myself picking it up slower than usual, which was frustrating. Still, the thought of showing my fans a brand-new stage keeps me motivated, and I’m enjoying the process!

How do you maintain your energy and passion during those back-to-back performances?
I feel like my energy drops even more when I have to wait in between. But thanks to my fans, I’m able to recharge and keep my energy up. (And honestly, I make sure to sneak in some naps here and there too!)

We love a good nap! What are some must-have items you bring with you on tour to feel more at home while traveling?
I always make sure to pack a nasal inhaler, a calf massager, and earplugs because sleep is absolutely essential for me. Since hotel rooms tend to be cold, I always bring sleep socks, a sleep mask, and cozy pajamas. Having these things makes me feel more comfortable and relaxed. Oh, and I absolutely never forget my earphones!

What does this solo tour mean for you personally as an artist, especially at this stage in your career?
I’ve never had the chance to put on a concert or tour as a solo artist, so it’s exciting to think about building something completely from scratch. But at the same time, there’s definitely some pressure to get it right the first time, like setting the tone for everything else to follow.

You previously wrote songs when you were in LOONA, how does your writing process look like now as a solo artist?
As a solo artist, I haven’t written or composed any songs yet, but during my time in the group, I wrote lyrics for a song called “Worldview”. Instead of personal stories, I focused on themes that reflected the group’s image. Now, I feel like my range has expanded because I can share more autobiographical and honest stories through my music.

How would you describe the change of your music since going solo?
When I started as a solo artist with PAIX PER MIL, what I was most curious about was, “What would the difference be between me producing myself and how a third party views and produces me?” It felt like they discovered and brought out charms and strengths in me that even I wasn’t aware of. Compared to when I was in the group, my vocal tone has become more versatile, and I’ve gained the courage to boldly explore different genres.

How do you hope your fans are experiencing your solo music and tour?
When people listen to the music, I hope it makes them think, “Ah, this is why Yves wanted to go solo,” while also sparking excitement for future albums. As for the tour, since it’s a multisensory way to share my music with fans, I want it to be an experience where they feel, “It’s even better live on stage!”

Last but yet the most important question: Do you have a special message for your fans?
To all my fans, even when we’re apart, we’re always connected through music and heart, so don’t feel lonely and discouraged! And please remember, I’m always cheering you on. Love you!

We want to thank Yves so much for her time and we can’t wait to see her on stage! Her first-ever solo tour ‘2024 YVES APPLE CINNAMON CRUNCH TOUR IN EUROPE’ will kick off this month! You can get the tickets right here.
