MiC Lowry talk touring with Justin Bieber and ‘Oh Lord’
MiC Lowry’s 2016 was absolutely insane, from touring with Justin Bieber to making a huge name for themselves. If their momentum continues, don’t be shocked to see the five-some from Liverpool dominating the charts in 2017, and selling out some huge headline shows. We caught up with the boys to talk about their high profile support slots and more.
You’ve just finished supporting Justin Bieber on his European leg of his Purpose tour. Can you tell us a bit about that?
It was such an amazing experience, performing to thousands of people every night! The fans were so receptive, each so was so hype. Justin was cool as well, loved to have a game of footy before a show.
If you could sing one song with Justin, what would it be and why?
Probably ‘No sense’, because it’s our favourite song off the album.

You’ve got quite the fan base already, what’s the weirdest thing someone has bought for you?
Nothing too weird yet, we’ve actually had decent gifts! While we were on tour, someone got us lanyards with our individual names on and the band’s name.
Your new single, ‘Oh Lord’, samples Phil Collins’ ‘In The Air Tonight’. Are you fans of his? How did that integration come about?
Yeah, we all are! Particularly, Michael, he loves the ‘Tarzan’ soundtrack and is a fan of Genesis. Well, the song was produced by a Swedish collective called ‘The Family’ and sent over to us. We instantly loved the sample, and after we put our vocals on the track we knew the song was a vibe!
For those who haven’t heard ‘Oh Lord’ yet, how would you pitch it to someone in one Tweet?
Nostalgic, commercial RnB re-interpretation of ‘In The Air Tonight’, that can hype up any situation.
You’re heading out on a headline tour in February, have you got anything special up your sleeves?
Yeah, we have new exclusive music and a wavy band behind us with fresh arrangements of our set-list!
You recently made your live TV debut, how was that? Did you do anything special to prepare for it? We can imagine it’s a little bit daunting.
That was an amazing experience. We prepared as we usually do, rehearsed every day making sure the sing was tight. We actually work best under pressure, so it wasn’t too daunting.
What advice would you give to people looking to start a band and make it in today’s industry?
Your difference is your strength, as long as you stick together as a unit and keep practising and rehearsing, you should do well. Make sure to get your sound out into the world!

You’ve performed at Glastonbury and supported some huge artists, what else could happen in 2017 to top off the amazing 2016 you had?
We’d love to have a Top 20 song, or possibly be nominated for best newcomer award. Definitely looking to play some cool festival this year!
What’s one question you’ve never been asked in an interview that you wish you had?
Would you like to order a Nando’s?
MiC Lowry’s headline tour kicks off on the 16th Feb in Glasgow, then calls at Liverpool, Birmingham and London. Pick up your tickets before they sell out, here.
