Jiubel talks about his music, TikTok and future plans
With his funny videos and funky music, Jiubel is definitely becoming one of our favourite stars!
21-year old Jiubel is a phenomenal star on TikTok, with more than 2.5 million followers on the platform. He is definitely on the way to become a huge artist, even when the singer thinks he hasn’t completely found himself as an artist. However, Jiubel has released his new single ‘Orange Trees’ last week. Luckily for us, he had time to chat about his career, new single and upcoming debut EP!
Congratulations on your new single ‘Orange Trees’! – How do you feel about the release?
I’m very happy with the outcome of this new release! It’s the most support I’ve gotten out of all my releases. It’s making me anticipate future releases even more because of the feedback I’ve received.
The song sounds really funky, what was your inspiration for it?
My inspiration came from the changes in the season. The mood swing from summer to fall is a big one, so I pretty much captured that feeling and turned it into a song.
How would you describe your music currently?
Currently I feel like I could be doing more. There are sounds I have in my arsenal that I haven’t shown the world yet. This is something I’m looking forward to in my music career.
You could say that you’re doing pretty well on TikTok with more than 70 million likes, how did that start for you?
The love and hate both motivate me to keep on going. I always appreciate the love I receive on the app, but the hate doesn’t really phase me at all.
On the platform you receive a lot of love, but also some hate. Does that affect you and how do you deal with it?
It all started by interacting with my supporters and slowly showing them my musical talent. My musical talent really helped me build a relationship with them. – I’m very grateful for that!
You also admitted that you haven’t completely found yourself as an artist – how do you want to evolve yourself?
I want to hop into different lanes of music. I love indie pop but I also want to make Spanish music, hip hop, and many more. The new genres will be part of my evolution as an artist.
That sounds amazing! And now your first EP is coming out in November! – What made you trigger about making one?
I’ve wanted to release an EP since I was 17. You could say it was the SoundCloud era of rap that inspired me. I’m just very excited to share my first EP with the world.
We can’t wait either for that! The release of your debut EP can be quite scary; how do you handle that?
I wouldn’t say it’s scary, I would just say the anticipation of the release makes you slightly nervous. I’m handling it well because of the supporters I have. They’ve been looking forward to an EP since I started making music.
Is there something you really want to achieve in the next 5 years?
In the next five years I will have already earned my first platinum record. I know it will happen. I see it!
We hope so too! What can your fans expect from you in the future?
The two things you can expect from me are Spanish music and a tour, but also some hiphop tracks as well!
