With opening acts New Hope Club and HRVY, fans were anything but disappointed at the end of the night (and the next day). People of all ages were in attendance at the Paradise Rock Club to see this entertaining lineup perform on Oct. 3, 2018. The night was filled with dancing, screaming and both the crowd and acts singing at the top of their lungs.
The lights began to dim and the audience eagerly cheered as New Hope Club appeared from behind the curtain to welcome the crowd with all smiles. The British pop trio originally formed in 2015 and has been touring with The Vamps for about two years now. Members Blake Richardson, George Smith, and Reece Bibby entertained the crowd with their latest single ‘Crazy’ as well as with other original songs. Their setlist included a fun cover of ‘IDGAF’ by Dua Lipa, which had the crowd singing back and forth with the trio effortlessly. Their genuine nature on stage and both their radiant talent and energy kept the audience excited and their attention focused.
Following New Hope Club, the final opening act of the Night & Day Tour was 19-year-old singer HRVY. The singer ran on stage with an undeniable energy and immediately began dancing like no one was watching. Accompanied by a small group of female dancers for some of his set, HRVY still remained to be the focus of attention with his powerful vocals and swift moves. His set included a cover of ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran and his own smash hit, ‘Personal.’ This song, nearly at 75 million streams currently, had the crowd dancing and screaming every lyric back to HRVY as he danced from one side of the stage to the other. His set in entirety was anything but short of energy — and definitely one to remember.
Just as the crowd began to settle down, The Vamps appeared enthusiastically on stage and their first song of the night, ‘Staying Up’, began. The four-piece band, who all play their own instruments, entertained the crowd with some of their most popular hits and new songs off of their latest album ‘Night & Day.’
Between songs, the band spoke to the audience about their gratitude to be performing for all of them and thanked them for their support. Lead singer Bradley Simpson had a silly nature when connecting with the crowd and constantly encouraged everyone to enjoy the moment and dance. With mostly upbeat songs on The Vamps’ set, fans were able to sing, dance, and try to grab their favorite members’ attention throughout the show.
Their setlist included something for everyone regardless of which album of the band’s was their favorite (or even if they were a relatively new fan). It was inclusive and made it nearly impossible to not have a good time. The show was energetic and playful, as was The Vamps’ connection to their audience. With hands in the air and lyrics being yelled back and forth, it was a night full of high frequencies and high spirits. The show concluded with a three-track encore that consisted of their songs ‘Wake Up’, ‘Same To You,’ and a fan favorite: ‘All Night.’
