HRVY talks his perfect Nandos and Instagram tips
HRVY has been causing a stir on social media with a HUGE following of over 1.2 million followers on Instagram and 297K on Twitter. Enticing fans with his covers on YouTube was enough to get them hooked and pave the way for HRVY to team up with Redfoo and Stylo G for his own releases. We caught up with the 18-year-old to find out more about his debut release and how he’d survive a zombie apocalypse.
Hi HRVY, thanks for chatting with us! For those who haven’t heard of you before, how would you describe your sound?
I would say my music has a pop/R&B sound to it and lately has had summery vibes.
You’ve covered a variety of artists on your YouTube channel from The Weeknd to Zayn & Taylor Swift, which is your favourite to perform?
I loved performing ‘Starving’ by Hailee Steinfeld, as it was one of my favourite songs of 2016!
Is there anything, in particular, you look for when deciding what song you should cover?
I like to cover songs that I can bring my own style to. I also ask my fans and take into consideration what they like and want to listen to.
‘Holiday’ is your debut video featuring RedFoo, can you tell us what it was like filming the video?
Amazing, great fun but exhausting with all the jumping up and down.
Your debut EP smashed the pre-order charts across the world, how does that make you feel?
Very blessed to have such dedicated fans. I kept checking iTunes as I couldn’t quite believe it was at no1.
With over a million followers on Instagram, you know how to post the perfect photo, so what tips can you give us?
Hahah! Lighting and filters are everything! I always like my pictures to be bright and colourful.
You’ve been over in America touring recently, can you tell us a bit about that?
I love the USA, touring there is so much fun but can also be very tiring because of travelling from state to state. But it’s all worth it to meet the fans and of course, the food is great.
Where’s one place you haven’t been that you’d love to visit next?
I’d love to go to the Netherlands! I have a lot of fans on Twitter that tell me that I should visit.
You’re taking to the stage at this year’s V Festival, what can fans expect to see from your performance?
A lot of jumping and smiling from me! I am really excited as its a big dream of mine to perform there. I might also do some acoustic songs.
If we were going out for a cheeky Nandos, what would you order?
A sunset burger with peri chips and garlic bread, oh and a Diet Coke!
What are your 3 most used emojis?
The monkey face, the cloud and the blue heart.
How would you survive a zombie apocalypse?
I’d have my dogs Teddy and Barney to protect me.
