Following her recent collaborations with BTS and Yungblood, Halsey is back and better than ever with her first solo single of 2019. The empowering anthem ‘Nightmare’ was released today alongside a kick-ass music video with a feminist message. The concept features an all-female cast and includes cameos from boss ladies such as Cara Delevingne and Blondie’s Debbie Harris.
The song illustrates the frustration of dealing with life as a woman in today’s society; but more importantly, it celebrates female strength. With lyrics like “I don’t owe you a goddamn thing” and ‘No, I won’t smile, but I’ll show you my teeth,” you can’t help but scream them back and feel liberated. In light of the recent anti-abortion laws sweeping America, the message of the song feels more relevant now than ever.
Everyone’s had a lot to say on Twitter, so we’ve rounded up the best fan reactions:

Halsey knows she’s in a position where her voice can be the voice of thousands who don’t have one. She dropped this song at such a pivotal time for us as woman who are getting our rights threatened. I stand with Halsey and am so grateful to her. #HalseyNightmare
