Remember when we were all super crazy for ‘Closer’ by The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey? Yeah, well guess what? Halsey wasn’t the first choice to record the song! We were shocked too, because we love her.
Nope, Camila Cabello was offered to be the feature, and she turned it down. But why?
Speaking on the Elvis Duran Morning Show, she spilled the beans: “I loved the song, but I had to turn it down because I was with the group at the time, and we were about to put an album out. I always tried to do my solo stuff off cycle, so that was super on, and so I had to say no, and then that was the No.1 song in the world.”
Well, damn. We bet Camila is kicking herself now because ‘Closer’ became number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 consecutive weeks and was number one in 18 countries including the UK, Australia and Mexico.
Here’s hoping some of Camila’s new songs will get just as much success, like her feature on Major Lazer’s ‘Know No Better’ or her own single, ‘Crying in the Club‘.
