It’s BTS world domination as they become the first and only group in history to chart multiple No. 1 debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Dynamite” and their latest single “Life Goes On.”
This is their third No. 1 on the chart in the span of three months; “Dynamite” was crowned twice in September, and back in October their collaboration with Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685 also claimed first place on the chart.
Now it’s time for “Life Goes On” to sit on that throne as the first-ever song in Korean to achieve No. 1.

“Life Goes On” was composed by RM, Suga, and J-Hope along with Chris James, Antonina Armato, and Pdogg, who also produced the song. The single carries the perception of the stagnant life we’re living during the pandemic and the hopeful expectation of the end of it that seems far away but we know is coming.
We also know that BTS’s fandom ARMY is a force to be reckoned with, and if there were any doubts about their power, now we’ve got none at all. “Life Goes On” lacked one of the most important components for the Hot 100: radio play. Almost nonexistent on the airwaves, ARMY took charge and built the most amazing streaming and buying project to make sure that BTS took the first position on the chart. ARMY taught each other the dos and don’ts when streaming, raised funds, and used Twitter to communicate among themselves to push the single’s sales.
Achieving No. 1 with a Korean song this week was really important to ARMY for many reasons. They wanted it for Jin’s 29th birthday and for Suga’s personal list of goals. “What Yoongi wants, Yoongi gets” – Suga is known for his prophetic words about BTS’s accomplishments, like the GRAMMY nomination they got last week, and just like many other goals he voiced out that became true during their career. But the most important reason has to be to prove once and for all that music transcends language.

When it comes to BTS and ARMY, teamwork makes the dream work, be it for the charts or for important causes, such as the Match A Million for Black Lives Matter. BTS and ARMY set goals, work hard, and in the end, it all pays off.
