Harry Styles takes off his jeans for New York Fashion Week show
A lot of cool things went down at New York Fashion this year, but the coolest had to have been those done for a good cause. So what could’ve been cooler than 100 celebrities donating their jeans for an artist to paint on and then auction off for charity?
‘Jeans for Refugees’ was a NYFW runway show that combined artist and designer Johny Dar’s couture pieces with the celebrity-donated pairs of jeans that Dar himself painted. All items, couture and jeans, were sent to auction after the show with the proceeds going to the International Rescue Committee and the Big Heart Foundation.
Dar is allowing for anyone in the world to bid on his pieces online, as a gesture toward his initiative in inclusivity. The donations to those two foundations will go to help refugees across the globe.
This year’s ‘Jeans for Refugees’ show included jeans donated by Alicia Vikander, Anna Wintour, Candice Swanepoel, Chanel Iman, Claudia Schiffer, Elle MacPherson, Emma Watson, Eva Longoria, Florence Welch, Karlie Kloss, Ka- rolina Kurkova, Kate Moss, Rachel McAdams, Shannon Elizabeth, Sharon Stone, Sofia Coppola, Tuppence Middleton, Twiggy, and Victoria Beckham.
Male models also walked in jeans from Daniel Radcliffe, Harry Styles, Jamie Theakston, Joaquin Phoenix, Nicholas Hoult, Ozzy Osbourne, Tom Waits, Guillaume Nery, and Usher.
If you’re feeling philanthropic, or just want to see all the celebrity jeans available to bid on, you can check out the auction now. Harry Styles’ jeans are currently bidding for $771 (about £593), but the auctioneer’s estimate for their final price is $19,280-$27,540 (about £14,830-21,184).
