Halsey’s new makeup line About-Face is letting us color outside the lines
The songstress is giving us a different kind of beat.
The trend of musicians-turned-makeup-moguls continues with Halsey, who recently unveiled her incoming makeup line, About-Face. She is following in the footsteps of celebrities like Rihanna and Selena Gomez, who have found success in their respective brands.
After years of doing her own makeup for red carpets, shows, and even the cover for her album Manic, Halsey is taking the reins as the brand’s head makeup artist. Halsey told Byrdie that her former life as an art student was influential in her growing love for makeup, which she had to do on her own as an emerging pop star. As seen in the first campaign video, Halsey appears in both a glowy, everyday face, as well as a bold, graphic liner look.
The brand’s first drop includes eye, lip, and face products with prices ranging from $17-$32. Among the face products are three highlighters in stick, liquid, and pressed powder formulas. The eye products—the Shadowstick and Matte Fluid Eye Paint—are user-friendly and a great way to add playful pops of color to your looks. Finally, the lip products include a gloss that comes in four shades, a matte lip paint, and a matte lip pencil.
About-Face is an ode to the 90s influences that Halsey uses as inspiration for her own looks. The brand’s mission is to allow everyone to “represent themselves and celebrate one another,” and is meant to be used creatively and without rules. Every product is hypoallergenic, vegan and cruelty-free, and boxed up in biodegradable and recyclable packaging.
About-Face is taking preorders now and is set to launch on January 25.
