DIY hair masks with just 3 ingredients
There’s nothing worse than growing your hair long and then having to cut it because it’s so damaged. Just ask Harry Styles.
(Just kidding, he cut his hair to donate it. But still).
To avoid having this happen to you, take excellent care of your hair while growing it. Like, pamper those strands. Make sure to get regular trims, and treat your hair to a deep-conditioning mask once in a while.
DIY hair masks are often better than their drugstore alternatives. Made from natural ingredients without any weird chemicals you can’t pronounce, these hair masks consist of things you probably have in your kitchen right now. Best part? They’re super easy to make, and you can make enough for just one treatment every time you need it.
Easily customize your DIY hair mask for your hair’s need by picking one ingredient from each section below:
Pick a base:
- Yogurt – strengthens and softens
- Olive or coconut oil – moisturizes and restores shine
- Egg – cleanses and strengthens
Pick a fruit:
- Banana – improves elasticity
- Avocado – moisturizes and repairs
Pick an add-on:
- Honey – moisturizes and restores shine
- Apple cider vinegar – deep cleanses and eliminates oils
- Lemon – gets rid of build-up that dulls hair
Place all of your ingredients in a bowl, and use a fork to combine them (whisks work great too!). Using your hands, apply the hair mask liberally to the ends of your hair, where it’s probably the most damaged, and work your way up. Twist your hair up and cover it with a plastic shower cap; this will allow the natural heat from your head to help the ingredients penetrate your hair better. Leave on for 15-30 minutes, then rinse out well. Follow with your regular shampoo and conditioner.
Boom. Beyonce levels achieved.
