5 things I hate about rude people in public
The general public, you’ve got to love them. Whether you work with them or not – you can’t really escape them. That’s not really my problem. The problem I have is the amount of rude people I encounter on a daily basis, and the things they continue to do. If I think you’re being rude, I’ll tell you – even if you’re a complete stranger.
Occasionally I’ll get the odd comment back from them, I don’t care. If I think you’re doing something wrong, I’m going to tell you. My argument is, you don’t need to be rude. Common courtesy goes a long way. Here are the 5 main things that really annoy me.
People who shoulder charge
So I’m walking along minding my own business and there are people walking towards me. There’s plenty of room to pass. The general idea here is that you walk past each other without having to come into contact with them. Even if you think this is going to happen, you tend to move out of each other’s way. There are some people who do neither. Why the hell do you feel the need to shoulder charge people along the way. You do not own the pavement.
People who push from behind when you’re in a queue
Nobody likes to queue, I appreciate that. I know it can be frustrating, especially when the queue is moving slowly or not at all. But guess what, if you’re going to be pushing behind me – it’s not going to make a scrap of difference. The only reason why I haven’t moved is because the person in front of me hasn’t moved either. Pushing isn’t going to get us anywhere. And besides, I don’t want to feel your hands on me or your breath on my neck thank you very much!
Standing too close when you’re entering your pin number
While I’m on the subject of people standing too close, what’s with those people who stand right behind you when you’re at the ATM? It’s worrying enough that there’s so much fraud about so you do the ‘cover up the keypad with my hand’ thing. Just wait your god damn turn. I don’t need you standing right behind me. I’m not going to do things any faster if you do this. In fact, I’ll probably just take my time just to piss you off even more.
People talking in the cinema or at a show
FFS! What part of being in the cinema and being quiet do people not understand? I honestly think people forget they’re in the cinema surrounded by other people and think they’re in their own home watching their big ass television screen. If you want to talk all the way through a film, why can’t you wait until it comes out on DVD? Not only that but people who also talk all the way through concerts or a show. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? People have paid a lot of money to hear the film, the artist or the performer and not you wittering on about what you want for tea or if you liked whatever film that actor has been in. Shut up SHUT UP, SHUT UUUP!
People who don’t say thank you
This is a basic common courtesy don’t you think? Manners and all that. If I’ve done something like hold the door open for you, given you directions to that shop you want to go to or told you the time – at least say THANK YOU! It’s only 2 small words. What the hell is wrong with you? Those 2 words go a long way. It makes people feel appreciated.
