12 things only an introvert understands
Shoutout to all my fellow introverts because this post is for you. For many people, they love to be out and about, exploring ‘the great outdoors’. But newsflash, not everyone thinks that outdoors is so great. It’s not that we never ever want to go out ever… okay, maybe sometimes we feel that way, but us indoors-y kind are just more comfortable with home comforts. Sometimes extroverts fail to understand the way we work, but I’m here to share things that only an introvert understands.
1. Our idea of a ‘big night’ on a Friday or Saturday is putting on our PJs or comfy clothes, stocking up on snacks and watching TV or reading a good book
Parties? Clubbing? No thanks. I’m gonna Netflix and chill… with my snacks.
2. We do socialise… on social media
Why go and interact with humans in person when technology has given us the beautiful gift of being able to talk to people without having to go anywhere and deal with awkwardness. Because I am awkward AF.
3. Not getting ready to go out, but actually having to prepare ourselves
Social interaction, big crowds and being somewhere that isn’t home takes a lot of mental preparation, not just getting dressed and the like. Getting ready usually starts days, maybe even weeks, in advance.
4. Having a joyous weekend alone means ending up missing our friends
I do like you and love you… but I just need to stay inside.
5. Enjoying having visitors… but also enjoying them leaving just as much
“Lovely to see you! Okay… okay…. bye now… bye…(thank God).”
6. Having the struggle to find decent excuses as to why you don’t want to attend events
I could write an entire book of excuses. It’d probably be a best seller amongst other introverts.
7. When we do go to social gatherings, we cannot go alone
8. And if we lose the person you came with, it becomes a living hell
“S.O.S! S.O.S! I CANNOT SOCIALISE WITH STRANGERS.”
9.Needing to take time to recharge and rest for a while after being social
If you need me, I’ll be under my duvet for a week with my phone and some snacks.
10. We believe we’ll probably die alone
Because the only way you’ll find other introverts is a dating app, but that means going out… on a date…
11. Working in groups? Oh hell naw
I can do the work better alone. Yes, I know I said in my interview I work well with people… I just prefer not to.
12. Having an overall understanding that our best company is ourselves!
I understand myself more than anyone else.
So here’s to us introverts. We may seem weird, but we’re actually pretty fricking awesome.
