It is officially readathon o’clock!
Day One 6.39pm. 127 pages read
My day went from this:
Happy day one of #tbrtakedown #bookworms. I have coffee, muffins and a whole uninterrupted day ahead to read.

To this:
'Why haven't I got more pages read today', says the girl who has spent 80% of her day on social media #tbrtakedown

Okay, so not the strongest start but this is a marathon not a sprint, people!
Day One 11.51pm. 261 pages read
I managed to finish Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken, which makes me full super productive. Okay, so It wasn’t even on my original tbr and I read the majority of it last week, but progress is progress people! I am too emotionally drained to even contemplate reading anything else tonight!

Day Two 9.01am. 261 pages read
I have boring adulty things to do today like earn a living and go to the gym. Bleurgh. Still don’t think I’m over Wayfarer, either.

Day Two 9.50pm. 525 pages read
I did manage to avoid some of my responsibilities and get some reading time in this afternoon and have just completed my second book, Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. Both completed books were started before the readathon begun so I am going to have to up my game for the rest of the week, if I have any hopes of completing all of the challenges!
Day Three 11.20pm. 842 pages read

Today has been both successful and unsuccessful. I started the morning reading one of the books off my original tbr: The Bombs That Brought Us Together by Brian Conaghan. It was fast-paced and I was thoroughly enjoying it. 61 pages in I get an email to say I had been approved my digital copy of Antisocial by Jillian Blake. I immediately dove into that book, despite still having four other books to read this week, and read it in one sitting! Overall I gave it 3/5 stars and was a little disappointed, but it was such a good readathon pick due to its thrilling narrative, so I would definitely recommend it for that.
Day Four 10.10pm. 952 pages read
After an early morning and a busy day at work I was in no mood to read. And then I did a thing:

I have just started on The Memory Book by Lara Avery to hopefully relieve me of some of these emotions. I read 110 pages and really enjoyed it. Contemporary is always a good choice when reading books back-to-back, as it tends to add some lighter relief. This contemporary however, is about a teen with a rare disease that depletes her memory.
SOMEONE SAVE ME FROM THESE EMOTIONS!
Day Five 9.47pm 962 pages read
10 pages read today. Solid progress, Dan!
Day Six 10.20pm 1199 pages read
I just finished The Memory Book by Lara Avery and, fitting with the theme if this readathon, it was an emotional one! I should really try and finish another of my three remaining books tonight, but I am going to watch rubbish reality TV instead.
Day Seven 5.46pm 1249 pages read
I have been out of the house pretty much all day, so not much reading progress to report. I did read 50 pages of The Pearl Thief by Elizabeth Wein with breakfast and am hoping to complete it before the midnight readathon deadline. It is a thriller set in the 1930s and seems like a good break from all of the heartbreaking fiction I seem to have been reading recently!
A thriller set in the 1930s written by the author of Code Name Verity? Yes, please! #thepearlthief #amreading

Day Seven 11.49pm 1602 pages read
So I managed to complete The Pearl Thief by Elizabeth Wein just in time! With 5 books completed and another book started I am pretty happy with my reading progress, this week. The readathon has definitely motivated me to fit in a few extra pages when I probably would not have otherwise done so. Next time I hope to participate more in the Twitter discussions and reach that elusive 2,000 page goal!
