We have gone on and on about The Crowns of Nyaxia so you shouldn’t be surprised to see another article about the series. However, we honestly think that this year is the year that you should start the series. Here are top 3 reasons:

Reason 1: There are “only” 4 books out currently.

This includes 1 finished duology, 1 standalone, and book 1 of the second duology. This is why now is absolutely the best starting point because if you are lazy, you can just read that book 1 of the second duology and not feel overwhelmed. Each duology follows a clan of vampire, so while everything is interconnected, you can just immerse yourself in the universe of a particular clan. But if you find yourself loving this universe, you have another 3 books to explore right away!

Reason 2: The standalones are epic.

We absolutely loved Six Scorched Roses, the first novella in the series. In fact, we had the honour of chatting with Carissa Broadbent all about it. It is designed to read as a standalone but is also perfect for those who already love the series. To give more context, Six Scorched Roses follows 2 (relatively minor) characters who showed up in the first duology and does not focus too heavily on the world. Instead it focuses more on the romance. We are thus super excited to know that there is a new standalone on March 27 — Slaying the Vampire Conqueror.

Reason 3: The second duology will be competed this year.

The Fallen & The Kiss of Dusk is the second book of the second duology (also called The Shadowborn Duet) and it will be released on August 5. The first book of the duology, The Songbird and the Heart of Stone, will have its paperback release on July 3 too!
