The first two books in the series, ‘Red Queen’ and ‘Glass Sword’ will be rereads, for me. I am hoping to reacquaint myself with this world before reading the short story collection and the third book in the quartet.
I Have no Secrets by Penny Joelson

This is a thriller told from the perspective of fourteen-year-old Jemma, who has severe cerebral palsy. I am eager to read this book soon as it fits with my 2017 goal to read more diversely. I am always attempting to broaden my horizons and not have my reading be repetitive of the same caracters/tropes/sexualities etc.

The Island at the End of Everything by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

Armi is forced to abandon her home on a secluded island when government officials deem it to become a next settlement for lepers. Just like ‘I Have No Secrets’ this sounds like a book that will test me.
Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse

This book has been everywhere recently and I am excited to jump in on the hype! The sounds like it will combine my passion for reading with my guilty pleasure pastime, as it centres around a reality TV star family!
Romantic Suspense series by Karen Rose

Apologies for anyone who finds that mismatched series are one of their pet hates! These second-hand bargains were just too good to pass up, regardless of the different editions. I don’t yet own the first book, but apparently this police procedural series can be read and understood out of order.
Snow like Ashes and Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch

This book has received an insane amount of hype, fuelled in part by these gorgeous covers! These are the first two books in the series and I have been waiting until I own them both to binge them. The third and final instalment is already out in hardback, but will be released in paperback later this year.
Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

I read the Grisha trilogy by Bardugo at the beginning of the year in preparation for this duology. Set in the same world, but with a different set of characters, this features a bank heist in a fantastical realm of the world in the original series. That is pretty much all I know and pretty much all I need to know to be pumped for it!
A Darker Shade of Magic and A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schawb

Another hyped series and another trilogy I don’t own the third book of. I have heard such high praise that I am almost hesitant to read this, in fear of having expectations too highly placed. This high fantasy series sounds like everything I am about so I am sure it will live up to all of the hype.
And, as always, there are lots of exciting NetGalley titles I want to get to this month.
All Our Wrongs Today by Elan Mastai

Want to know how much I knew about this book before requesting it, other than it had a beautiful cover? Nothing. What I now know, however, is that this is a techno-utopian time-travel sci-fi. Sold. Sold. Sold.
One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

This is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. This contemporary thriller sounds like it will deliver something different from the norm and I am ready for it!
Quest of the Kings by Robert Evert
Available in the UK and the US
I am used to my high fantasies numbering many hundreds of pages, but this one doesn’t even stretch to 200! I am intrigued and dubious to see how I will like my favourite genre in this truncated length. We shall soon find out.
The Outs by E.S. Wesley
Available in the UK and the US
Another b-e-a-utiful cover design and another thrilling dystopian adventure. Memory-stealing blackouts, an abduction and a brain-damaged teen all combine in this high-action story with a mysterious synopsis. I honestly want to own this book, based on the cover alone, even before I know if I will like it, or now.
Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi

This story, focusing on slavery from the perspectives of the slaves rather than the slave-owners, spins history on its head. I have heard nothing but praise for the importance and impact of this book.
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
Available in the UK and the US
Another hyped author I have yet to hear a bad word about bu have also yet to attest that fact for myself. I read the first chapter as soon as I had received it and it sounded every bit as haunting and bizarre as I had anticipated. This sounds like a read to take your time with and ponder over as the writing is just so evocatively beautiful and moving.
An ever slightly more realistic list than last month. Think I can conquer all these series, bookworms?
