Throwback songs from the last two decades you still love
Jamming out to throwback songs with your best friends is always fun. No matter how many times you replay them, it’s worth it. One time, my friends and I were belting out Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and it was pure awesomeness. We were getting strange looks from the car next to us. Oh well, no regrets. I would do it all over again.
Let’s take a stroll through memory lane and rediscover your love for these gems.
VANESSA CARLTON – ‘A THOUSAND MILES’
We all know this from ‘White Chicks’. An instant classic. Thank you Terry Crews for breathing new life into this song. One of my favourites.
BACKSTREET BOYS – ‘LARGER THAN LIFE’
If you go to a club on 90’s night you’re almost guaranteed to hear this song. A favourite amongst all 90’s babies.
CELINE DION – ‘MY HEART WILL GO ON’
There was room for Jack too, never forget! If you don’t sing this iconic song with your friends, are you really even friends?
AQUA – ‘BARBIE GIRL’
Come on lads, admit it. You’ve sung this one before. You all know it word for word. With alcohol in their systems, everyone is so lit. Bless.
SPICE GIRLS – ‘WANNABE’
So tell me what you want, what you really, really want. As soon as the first chords start, you know its going to be the best three minutes of the night.
VANESSA AMOROSI – ‘ABSOLUTELY EVERYBODY’
YASS GURL! Oldie but a goodie. Can’t go wrong with this classic. It’ll get the party started, and everyone on their feet.
AVRIL LAVIGNE – ‘SK8ER BOI’
This song was my jam back then. And still now. If it plays in my car, no doubt I will sing till my heart’s content. I’ve even made a few parodies using this song. Very catchy tune too.
BRITNEY SPEARS – ‘…BABY ONE MORE TIME’
The amount of times I’ve watched Chad Michael Murray attempt to sing this in ‘Freaky Friday’. Golden. We all love a little Britney in our lives. She will live on always.
CASCADA – ‘EVERYTIME WE TOUCH’
THIS SONG! I was obsessed. I would play it all the time. This was when I first discovered dance music. Ahh, such innocence. You should all love this song.
LAS KETCHUP – ‘ASEREJE (THE KETCHUP SONG)’
You’re probably thinking “wtf is this song?” It’s that song in Spanish and no one knew what the group was singing. When I sing it, I make up my own words. I knew the first five seconds of the dance, does that count?
Have you jammed out to any of these throwback songs? If you haven’t, you may want to reevaluate your entire life.
