Get excited about season five of ‘The Mindy Project’ with these hilarious quotes from the show
‘The Mindy Project’ has had its fair share of drama, and I’m not just talking about Mindy and Danny’s on and off relationship. I’m referring to it’s off screen battle to stay on screen. Despite being cancelled after season three, ‘The Mindy Project’ got picked up by Hulu and is heading into its fifth season. I have grown fond of Mindy and her ways, and she makes me feel less alone in navigating ‘adulthood’ terribly.
‘The Mindy Project’ has done exceptionally well, and it’s because of the shows content. Not only is it genuinely funny (with some great pop culture references), it has also managed to demonstrate a multi-racial cast in a realistic manner. The characters don’t conform to stereotypes, and they’re intelligent people who make dumb choices. Essentially the characters are very human and have some pretty punchy wit.
And let’s not start me on the comedic goddess that is Mindy Kaling, What a badass lady, amirite? She started writing and acting on ‘The Office’ as Kelly Kapoor in 2005 and has been non-stop ever since. She’s written two books and has created her own TV show. She’s an incredible artist and in honour of this, I’m sharing some of my favourite quotes from ‘The Mindy Project’ with you in anticipation for the shows return next week.
This is what ‘The Mindy Project’ has taught me and I’m proud. No shame here bro. 💥💯
1. The ‘Amelie’ quote that will probably be me in the near future
While I’m not a fan of red wine I am in full appreciation of this. Only Mindy could equate red wine to blood. I think we’ve all had an exaggerated moment like this at some point. Moral of the story? Wine makes you sleepy, and sleep makes you silly. (Side note: ‘Amelie’ is a great film.)
2. The cat incident 😹
Whenever I get caught off guard and a cat is friendly to me, this is 100% my reaction when I remember that I’m a dog person. That’s not to say that I don’t like cats, I just think they can be slightly stubborn and rude. (Sorry cats and cat people.)
3. Waiting for my Kanye
Dating sucks doesn’t it? It can be so frustrating but we should all remember the following. Mindy has dated her fair share of dum dums. Mindy has also dated her fair share of great guys. Mindy deserves to be happy. As do we all, so just remember to wait for the Kanye to your Kim.
4. Everyone changes, and that’s okay
Things change. People change. Opinions change. Interests change. The only thing that remains constant? Change. Life changes all the time, you just get used to something and then life decides it wants to do things differently. Get used to it, and accept that you can’t control everything. Life will be easier and more enjoyable when this registers in your brain. (That was crazy deep.)
5. If you’re going to be a mess, be a hot one
Life can be shitty sometimes, and it can make things about 100 times harder than they need to be. But if Mindy Lahiri has taught me one thing, it’s that you can look good no matter what. Personal style is everything. And if things are hard, I know an instant pick me up is definitely investing time in yourself.
6. Learn the difference between like and love
Mindy’s love life is one of the main verticals in the show, and she has had some pretty intense love lessons to learn. One being learning the difference between like and love. There’s a massive difference between instant attraction and long term relationship material. While someone can appear majorly attractive to your eyes, could you be locked in a room with them for 24 hours without going crazy? (These are the questions ‘The Mindy Project’ leaves me asking myself… seriously. 🙄)
7. Be respectful to your Netflix subscription
On a lighter note… Mindy loves TV, clearly as much as the rest of us. I never want to be the person who brings up a TV show and says they’re up to date when they aren’t. The worst part? Being called out on your favourite part of an episode you haven’t seen yet. Ouch.
8. If you’re going to decorate, do it right
Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are all just around the corner. Don’t be scary. Be thankful. And make your Christmas decorations pop culture orientated. I definitely have a Kanye West star for the top of my Christmas tree, do you?
9. Love yo’self
Perhaps the most important lesson of all? You’re going to spend the rest of your life with yourself, so you may as well like the person you are. And once you like the person you are, it won’t really matter what other people think.
10. When all else fails, there’s still pizza
No this is definitely the most important life lesson. When people fail you, there’s always pizza. And if you get a bad pizza? There was a bad person who made that pizza. (So basically pizza is good and will never disappoint you.)
‘The Mindy Project’ returns for season five and will be available to stream on Hulu from October 4.
