VICTORIA is throwing her own PITY PARTY
The singer opens up to us about her latest single, her Eurovision journey, and more.
Ever thrown yourself a PITY PARTY? VICTORIA sure has, but instead of balloons and confetti, this one’s filled with raw emotion and unfiltered honesty. Her latest single is a powerful deep dive into self-doubt, resilience, and the walls we build to protect ourselves. We spoke to VICTORIA for an interview, she opens up about the inspiration behind the song, her journey from Eurovision to redefining her sound, and what’s coming next, as well as her own song picks for a PITY PARTY. One thing’s for sure—VICTORIA is just getting started, and you won’t want to miss what’s ahead.
Congratulations on your latest release “PITY PARTY”! Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the song and what it represents for you?
“PITY PARTY” was one of those songs I never expected to create. I was feeling low and lost, and when I got to the studio, I told my team I wanted to write a ballad that would help me heal. Four hours later, we had almost the entire song, and I was so excited that I started recording vocals immediately. The song is about those dark moments when you feel like you’re both too much and not enough. It’s about battling yourself and the world, fearing being seen because past pain has made you build walls and push people away.
Your music has evolved over the years, especially with your shift toward darker, alternative pop. What sparked this creative change, and how does “PITY PARTY” fit into this new direction?
I think I just stopped trying to fit into a box. For a while, I felt lost, both in life and in my music. But over time, I figured out what feels real to me. The rawness, the layered harmonies, the organic sounds – that’s what makes me feel connected to my own music again. “PITY PARTY” is a perfect reflection of that.
You’ve gained international recognition through Eurovision and your EP “a little dramatic”. How have those experiences with shaped your journey as a musician and personal life?
Eurovision gave me great exposure and new opportunities, but it also taught me the importance of staying true to myself. The more I grow, the more I realize music isn’t about chasing big moments – it’s about creating something meaningful. “a little dramatic” was just the beginning. I had only just started writing my own music, and that EP gave me hope that I could truly be an artist.

Tell us a bit more about your culture. You’re from Bulgaria, what is something that we need to know about Bulgaria? What do you enjoy?
Bulgaria is my home, and I’ll always love it for its rich history, culture, and incredible food. We have both the sea and the mountains, which makes it a beautiful and diverse place. I was born in Varna, by the sea, and I love going back whenever I can – it has a unique kind of beauty.
One of my favorite Bulgarian traditions is on March 1st when people exchange bracelets in the colours of red and white called “Martenitsa” which is for health and happiness. You’re supposed to tie it to a tree when you see a stork in spring – it’s a little moment of magic that connects us to nature.
That sounds amazing! Further on your music – collaboration has been a big part of your recent releases, including artists like BKE, Liquidfive, and Tribbs. What do you enjoy most about collaborating with other artists and there more artists you would like to collaborate with?
I love how collaborations bring something completely new in music. When you’re working with the right people, ideas flow naturally, and you create something you never would’ve made on your own. There are so many artists I’d love to work with like FINNEAS, who I think is one of the greatest producers, and Labrinth, whose music I absolutely adore. Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, and many more are also on my dream list!
You’ve had over 15 million streams and made it onto “Forbes Bulgaria’s 30 Under 30” list. How do you define success in your career? Do you already think: ‘I really made it’ or do you want more?
It’s funny – when I was younger, I probably would’ve seen this as “making it.” But now, I see success more as a feeling than a number. What matters most to me is that my music connects with people and feels honest. I’m very critical of myself, and I always want more, which is why I keep pushing forward.
Now that is really some self-growth! Looking back at your time on X Factor Bulgaria, are there any things that you’ve learned there? Or are there things that you wish you already knew, before participating the show?
X Factor was an amazing start, and it gave me so much. One of the biggest lessons I learned is that you don’t have to wait until you feel ready because sometimes, you never will be. Fear and insecurity can make you miss life-changing opportunities. So now, no matter how uncertain I feel, I remind myself to keep going, stay in the moment, and fight for my dreams.
2024 seems to be a big year of transformation for you. What can we expect next? An album, more singles, or even live performances?
It really has been! I’m excited to see what the rest of the year has in store. I’m working on new singles and my first album which is both terrifying and amazing at the same time. I also can’t wait to get back on stage because I truly miss performing in front of people!
If you had to build the perfect “PITY PARTY” playlist, what three songs would
be on it?
That’s a tough one, but here’s my perfect “PITY PARTY” playlist:
– “Roslyn” by Bon Iver, St. Vincent
– “Glimpse of Us” by Joji
– “When the Party’s Over” by Billie Eilish
And of course, I’d add “PITY PARTY” as the fourth track, haha!
Great picks haha! Last question – If someone’s listening to your music for the first time, which song should they start with?
I’d say “PITY PARTY.” It’s the most honest and personal song I’ve made so far, and it’s my favorite. I love everything about it—the harmonies, the story, the strings, the drums, and the power it builds toward the end. It’s just 100% me.
A huge thank you to VICTORIA for taking the time to chat with us! Be sure to follow her on Instagram right here, and most importantly — don’t forget to stream PITY PARTY whilst sobbing your eyes out or when you have your own PITY PARTY.
